Diane + Adam
This wedding was particularly special to us, as I (Claudia, the main face behind Jollifier) went to college at University of Delaware with the bride and we even lived together! Diane and Adam are both originally from Delaware and moved up to Philadelphia a few years ago after living abroad in Argentina. The couple now lives in Northern Liberties with their dog, Herbert, and friend, David. Both Diane and Adam are sweet and soft-spoken, quick-witted and goofy.
Diane and Adam started their wedding day getting ready together at MAAS Building (after setting up their own reception tables!) The cottage was the perfect prep spot, with windows overlooking the courtyard so they could watch the festivities come together and guests start to trickle in. Diane wore the chicest short lace dress and Adam opted for a gray suit with a fun floral tie.
Keeping with the urban garden theme, designs featured flowers in both hazy and burnished hues of rust, taupe and yellow with greenery. We wanted to reflect the saturated earthiness, as well as the refined industrial aspects.
The couple exchanged vows and rings in the garden courtyard with loved ones gathered around. Their union was cemented with the signature of two of their closest friends and celebratory drinks in skull-encrusted goblets.
Vines covered much of the courtyard and patio, giving the illusion of being in an urban forest. We wanted to build on the natural designs of the vines with depth and texture, and created an installation featuring pampas grass, solidago, pennycress, and broom corn on a base of curly willow.
Guests enjoyed tacos and other delicious Mexican street food for dinner and later a gorgeous cake by Fishtown-based Cake Life Bake Shop. The sun went down and everyone headed inside and upstairs to enjoy the rest of the evening dancing in the MAAS Space (a dance studio!)
(That’s me, Claudia, with my husband and the happy couple in the photo above!)
